15+ Hyped Books that I’ve never read
I thought this post was going to be very hard to write but it turns out it was the total opposite! I hadn’t realized that I’ve missed out on so many hyped books!
When I talk about hype (for those of you who don’t know), I’m talking about those books that are read at the same time, usually when they are published. Discussing hyped books is literally the best because so many people are reading them at the same time. It’s a book that apparently “everyone” says it’s amazing.
So… let’s begin!
1. The Twilight saga by Stephenie Meyer
I love the first movie and I’m not ashamed of it. I haven’t read a single book with vampires and/or werewolves but I love stories with these characters. Yes, I love The Vampire Diaries too (the TV series).
Now, with the prequel ‘Midnight Sun’ coming out soon I might read the first book…
2. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
This is going to sound so weird but after watching the first movie (and loving it) I decided to go straight to reading Catching Fire and Mockingjay. To this day, I still haven’t read the first book. Now that the prequel, ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ is out, I definitely have to read it.
3. The Harry Potter series by J.K Rowling
This is going to come as a shock to some of you but it’s true. I didn’t want to mention these books on the list because I felt embarrassed about being part of the book community and not having read any of them.
Anyways… Let me tell you more about it
I was given the special edition from The Chamber of Secrets as a gift two years ago but because I haven’t read the first book, I don’t think I should read the second one yet.
I’ve watched the 8 movies and I’m a HUGE fan of them. Honestly, I love this world so much and have so much admiration for it.
Side Note: I used to love Pottermore and I was sorted into the Gryffindor house if anyone wants to know
Ok, now that I’ve said that I can continue…
4. The Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth
Maybe I’ll read them someday?
I don’t have a particular reason behind why I haven’t read this trilogy.
When the first book was first published I didn’t have a Twitter or Goodreads account so I wasn’t even aware of the hype.
From this list so far, the Divergent books would be the last ones that I would read tbh.
5. The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
I didn’t want to read this book when it first came out. This was because a friend had told me it had given her nightmares and she actually had to stop reading it because of how intense it was. Then, another friend told me it was simply ‘okay’.
Yeah… so I’ve never read The Girl of the Train or watched the film.
6. To All the Boys I’ve loved before Trilogy by Jenny Han
The first movie was great (yes, only the first movie).
This book was also part of a previous post that I wrote called 10 YA books to read according to the season and basically I say (again) that I plan on reading this book this year.
7. The Fault in our Stars by John Green
I still remember when “everyone” was reading John Green’s books. Even my cousin (who doesn’t like reading) said that it has been the only book that has made her cry (and the third YA novel she’s read).
8. The Giver by Lois Lowry
Not gonna lie, the plot overall actually sounds interesting…
9. Cinder by Marissa Meyer (and all the Lunar Chronicles)
After reading Heartless by Marissa Meyer I now really want to read the Lunar Chronicles. I’ve only heard good things about these books and that they’re much better than Heartless… So, I really hope so.
10. Circe by Madeline Miller
I love mythology so I don’t know how I’ve never read this book! I’m planning on reading it this year too…
11. Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
I loved the A Court of Thornes and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas so I also hope I will love these books too!
The ACOTAR series were the hyped books that I almost did not read but was so glad to do so.
12. The Sun is also Star by Nicola Yoon
Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon was such a beautiful book!
I didn’t read it when it came out because I thought this hyped book would literally be the same as Everything, Everything but with different characters (idk if that makes sense).
13. Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
I heard that there’s gonna be a spin-off series adaptation on Hulu! That’s amazing!
14. The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
15. Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare
This book was published this year so I still (kind of) have time to be part of the hype.
16. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
The movie was beautiful but I’ve never read anything by this author…
17. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
This book sounds like that kind of hyped book that I would rate 5/5 stars.
After writing this post, now I want to write about hyped books that I’ve read (and that are actually worth it!) Maybe this will be a future post….?
Have you read all of these hyped books?
Which hyped books do you think are not worth it?
